Myriah MacIntyre

Myriah MacIntyre is a fifth-year PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa and a researcher in the Culture and Mental Health Disparities lab led by Dr. Monnica Williams. Her work is informed by her lived experience as a queer, Black-Indigenous woman and is grounded in intersectional, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive approaches to care. Her research focuses on racial trauma, psychedelic interventions, and the lived experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. Her doctoral dissertation examines the use of psilocybin within retreat-based ceremonial contexts to support processing, healing, and meaning-making related to racial trauma among BIPOC individuals. As a future clinical psychologist, Myriah seeks to expand upon her clinical training through work with adult populations, primarily those who are racially minorized. She remains committed to community-centered and decolonial methodologies that enhance psychological and cultural safety and address systemic inequities in mental health care.
