Romeya Peño Kamãnawa
Romeya Peño Kamãnawa, from the Noke Koî (Katukina), was born and raised in Acre, in the Amazon rainforest, learning and living with the elders of his people. He comes from a lineage of healers, and from a young age he received the spirits of the forest to help and care for his family, his community, and humanity. In his tradition, he works with the spirits of the forest and animals, such as a snake called Kanarono, where he channels healing songs using only his voice, in addition to other physical, mental, and spiritual healing techniques. Romeya Peño carries his ancestry and a unique heart. His tribe maintains its culture, language, customs, and spiritual practices, never having needed to undergo cultural rescue.
