
Tarryl Janik
Tarryl Janik has a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his fieldwork is based in Guyana South America and Florida. His areas of interest are the anthropology of shamanism, entheogenic sects and psychedelic religions in the United States, the anthropology of law, psychedelics and law, and Indigenous studies. Tarryl is the co-editor of Sorcery in Amazonia: A Comparative Exploration of Magical Assault and author of “Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth v. The DEA: Religious Sincerity and Situational Adjustments in the Process of Defining a Church and a Plant.” In Psychedelic Intersections: 2024 Conference Anthology, Center for the Study of World Religions, Harvard Divinity School.
